The premises are spacious and there is a special stone called "Kaiunishi" where you can throw a white ball called "Yakuyoke Tama" to ward off bad luck.
This is Chonoji Temple, the 87th temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage. Out of the 87 temples I have visited, I felt that this temple is the safest and most flat from the parking lot to the main hall. There is a huge tree near the main gate, and the spacious grounds are perfect for children to run around freely. Just be careful on rainy days as the ground outside the stone pavement may be slippery. They sell special ohagi at the temple office, which was delicious and not too sweet, so be sure to try it if they have any left when you visit. You're almost at the end of the pilgrimage, keep going!
Located in Nagaoji, this restaurant is a must-visit. Inside the precincts, you will find Tenmangu Shrine where you can also receive a goshuin stamp. Just by getting the goshuin from Tenmangu Shrine, you can receive the 88-card (87) as well.
