Located near Hamasaka Station in the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture, "Hamakko" is a restaurant where you can enjoy cheap and delicious dinners, as well as breakfast at a ryokan. The owner is a former sumo wrestler from the Sadogatake stable, known for his friendly and cheerful personality. It is said that famous sumo wrestlers have also visited the restaurant, so you might even have a chance to encounter one. The owner also has experience as a manager at the long-established Inn "Izutsuya" in Yunomura Onsen, and is rumored to be a graduate of the prestigious Tottori Josho High School, known for its sumo program. The menu features a variety of delicious delicacies such as mosae shrimp, garabee shrimp, baba ayu, and turtle hands. Unfortunately, there are no photos available, so I had to use a template.
I made a reservation and visited the restaurant on the day of the Kawashita Festival & Hamasaka Furusato Summer Festival Fireworks. The restaurant was fully booked and there were even customers waiting outside, possibly due to the event. As a result, ordering and receiving dishes like fried foods took a bit longer, and they were not able to prepare all the types of fish they normally offer. However, the dishes we had were all very delicious and reasonably priced. The service, including customer service and phone handling, was polite and the restaurant had a cozy, homey atmosphere. It was also conveniently located near the train station with good access.
