Went with friends for an evening meal, very disappointed with the food. Service was nice and attentive but the food was overpriced and poor. Starter of Langoustines , lacked taste and didn't go well with mashed potatoes, priced at £15.00. Braised beef £22 had obviously sat too long under a hot lamp , meat was dry as was the Turkey (lacking any cranberry sauce). All main dishes had same mash potatoes and diced veg , including the worst dish , a Vegetarian dish of Butthernut squash tart , which was diced up butternut , in light butter put in a tart case. Dessert for two were nice , the cheese board arrived, four slices of cheese cut by the waitress at the table put onto a plate with few grapes , £10.00. The service was good and food pre-ordered before being seated , obviously to assist the chef who no doubt works hard result we were not kept waiting long for our food. However the meal was very disappointing , certainly did not meet our expectations and didn't match the prices charged.
We met in the Buchan braes hotel for our first date 12 years ago and have been many times for meals, weddings and other events. Tonight we went back for our first meal in the hotel as our anniversary and we were thrilled with the welcome we received, the amazing friendly hospitality and the delicious food we ate. What a treat. So glad they are serving this standard of food again after the break due to covid. We will be back. Chef your lemon posset is the best desert I have ever eaten

Buchan Braes has reopened its doors. Currently only serving residents, but the meal was fabulous. There was an excellent variety of choices that were wonderfully cooked and presented. The staff were extremely attentive and even the chef came over to apologize for the wait we experienced for our dessert. It was no problem though, as we had watched in awe as he prepared main courses for a party of twenty. It was wonderful to watch and great to have the restaurant back in action.
