I love that it 's a local mom and pop place and that the owners are from Italy. Their pasta dishes are pretty authentic and I really enjoyed them. Appetizers are really great too. There were probably three of them tonight but seemed really frazzled about how busy it was. All three waitresses seemed to cover for each other and just overlap. So instead of us just having one waitress, we saw/talked to all three, so we 've had to ask for things multiple times and/or explain what we didn 't get to 3 different waitresses. Would 've rather had one waitress assigned to our table. We never received plates for appetizers and had to ask more than once for them. The menu is available online (via scan on side of tables and it wasn 't updated sure the menu was also written on the chalkboard too, but it would 've been nice if the online menu was updated too. Had to ask multiple times to get our water refilled. The first three plates came out warm and the fourth plate came out piping hot. Dessert (panna cotta I do NOT recommend. It says available with berries or chocolate. I thought it was served with fresh berries, but it 's only berry jam on top. Their tiramisu the ladyfingers were super soaked this time so it tasted super soggy, more than normal, tasted more like tres leches consistency. We really liked this place the first time around, but tonight the whole experience seemed off.
This places is a hidden gem. They have a simple menu which I love. Great options for vegetarians. This place is pretty small on the inside, but very cute. If you are planning on coming during the weekend you should look at making a reservation or doing take out. The food all tastes homemade and am amazing. We will definitely be returning!
YES!!! This was a delicious! A wonderful little restaurant with a charming atmosphere and a beautiful view of Mt. Timpnogos as we ate. When we arrived it was not yet the dinner rush, and Chef Ian gave us some personal attention including helping identify foods that may be difficult for my Wife's cacophony of foods allergies. (actually most of the menu was open to her which is rare for us. The wonderful dishes we had were a delight, with touch of true Italian authenticity. The desserts were a special treat as well. I highly recommend it, it was a wonderful meal!
This is the spot that you really don't want to share with anyone. They are just unbelievably good. I have never been to Italy in my life, but if this is how the food taste in Italy I will be on a plane tomorrow. They are pretty small spot and usually packed with people. Highly recommend making a reservation. Keep in mind that they only take more than 6 people in your group to be able to make a reservation. They do accept call ahead seating, but hard to get the exact time since there are so many people waiting.
Mastra was an authentic and delicious Italian dining experience, but was, sadly, overshadowed by absurdly slow service and long wait times. We arrived at 6:30pm on a Wednesday night and waited half an hour to be seated. That's perfectly acceptable as we had no reservation. Unfortunately, once seated we waited 20 minutes just to get our order in and another 20 minutes for our food. I'd have been more lenient with these wait times if it weren't for the fact that the focaccia appetizer took 15 minutes to get to our table. Typically something as simple as focaccia should be to the table in a few minutes. The food was great. We ordered the tomato focaccia, the pesto lasagna and the lasagna Bolognese. I enjoyed it all but the pesto lasagna was the highlight of the culinary experience. I'd strongly recommend it. I'd read that many call the lasagna Bolognese the best they've ever had and I must disagree. It was good but not the best lasagna I've ever had. For dessert we enjoyed a tiramisu to go and it was delicious! Maybe we expected too much, but the waiting put a damper on the entire experience. Also, I'm a diet coke addict and dining at a place with non-refillable drinks is always a bit of a drag. If they'd install a drink machine I'd have been just a bit happier. All in all, though, it was good Italian food.
