I tried the vegetarian reist (was amazing and a mixture of appetizers (all three were great). The satay peanut sauce was the richest and best I ever had. Fine taste mixed with more intense dishes. Very friendly and helpful staff and cozy place. Well worth a visit if you are in Amsterdam and would like to taste large Indonesian foods.
Just fantastic. This small restaurant (with about 50 or less) is a great find in the food culture of Amsterdam. Definitely recommend making reservations in advance. A must try, their ryst boards or rice tables come with a variety of selection and flavors. I started with the Martabak and of course. I look forward to returning, thank you very much
The food is not bad and it gives you a taste of different Indonesian-styles sauces. But the food ingredient itself is not so impressive. A con for not accepting card payment here.
The restaurant was quite full, so I was sat at the back with a bar to myself. Since I was completely removed from the fairly lively atmosphere in the main restaurant, you would hope that the food would be able to compensate. Unfortunately, my meal was extremely so so. I opted for the rijstaffel, which consisted of some nice spicy elements, some well bodied curries, and some nice Indonesian edibles. But overall it lacked refinement and, more importantly, flavour (which is something you would expect from a restaurant of this stature and a cuisine of this nature . Some examples of this would be the overly sticky and sweet chicken satay, the raw garnishes that tasted neither fresh nor seasoned, the bad tempeh, and the fact that one of my bowls of rice was overcooked (I thought that was the whole point?! . What compounds this is the premium prices they are charging, which you would hope would qualify you for free tap water at the very least. I am no expert on Indonesian cuisine but my advice would be to go somewhere else there are probably (less famous rice tables that are better and much cheaper.
Enak! Very delicious and authentic Indonesian food! In any case, recommend visiting this restaurant. The cook/wafer is also very nice and friendly.
