For example, navel oranges were $1.50 each , but were wrinkly looking and sour tasting. The bosc pears looked soft and mealy. Most of the tomatoes on the vine were past their prime with withered leaves and loss of plumpness. I am willing to pay more for the convenience and to support a local business, but not if it means a lower quality standard. When compared to a similar shop, (Mt Kisco Farm) in Mt. Kisco, Cherry Blossom fails to match up.
The flowers are beautiful. If this was just a florist shop it would get five stars. However, there are major problems with the grocery section which is the majority of the store: 1- contravening New York state law, many items have no pricing, whether it be on the individual item or on the shelf as is required by law. This means that you will be surprised price gouged when you buy a $10 loaf of bread that is $6 elsewhere.2- several items, including some in the refrigerator aisle, are well past their expiration date. For example , Apple cider that is 8 days past its expiration date.3- constant leaking in the back right corner of the store near where perishable shell items are stored. Creates an environment for mold on the breads, vegetables and other items that are being stored there. It also is unsightly, unhygienic, and a slipping hazard. There were two large puddles along the right side aisle and in the back of the store when I was there. A visual examination of the ceiling shows lots of water damage that has gone unmitigated. The certainly is a health code violation and it makes me wonder why the town doesn't come in and do an inspection. Doesn't seem that the grocery stores in Armonk are held to basic standards of operation duties as required by health codes, and other consumer protection responsibilities such as clearly labeling the pricing of groceries.I was thinking that this would be a nice mom and pop store to purchase from as they seem to have a wide selection of things, including from Japan, Portugal, Spain, and other countries and therefore have a interesting variety. But the bread I bought had mold on it when I opened it at home. And I was charged $10 for it when Whole Foods charges five. Please town of New Castle do a better job of getting into the grocery stores and making them operate under New York law. It doesn't do anybody any favors to look the other way because consumers like me will just go elsewhere when I would rather shop in town. I have to drive farther to go to get groceries that I know will labeled and unspoiled. Why should this be an issue in a tony posh town like Armonk?
They have a great selection of healthy food to grab and go as well as snacks and drinks. every time I go in no matter who is working they are always very friendly. Also have a really nice selection of flowers including some beautiful orchids.
