We didnt realize how hot it was until after we ordered drinks and food. I will be back in the Fall when the weather cools down. I love locally-owned coffee shops. I hope they work out the A/C issues soon because it's a million degrees in Atlanta and we were in there sweating like we were outside.
Decent coffee house on Moreland Ave south of I-20. That it is Black owned is a bonus for me. Coffee prices are on par with what you would expect at most independent coffeehouses. Also has a decent array of pastries options including beef patties.Food: 4/5
It was late night they served us even though they were about to close. They suggested the strongest cup of coffee to stay up. Customer Service was very cool and friendly and respectful. They had A cool setup and chill lounge area to hang out and spend time together. And they let us hang out till closing time. Definitely Recommend and will be coming back! E+D
A cool little spot! Lots of vegan and other alternative options. The names of the drinks are clever. The banana bread was vegan (not a requirement for me) and it was so moist and delicious!Food: 5/5
Hodgepodge was third up on my quest to visit all the Black owned coffee shops in Atlanta, and they did not disappoint.Let's get into it!Location and ParkingThey are located on on Moreland Avenue, right after the light at the intersection of Moreland and Ormewood Ave. The outside of the building has the cutest artwork of beverages, cupcakes, and what reminds me of long lost Pokemon. The parking lot is a little tight, but my partner and I were lucky enough to snag the last spot in the lot.Venue and AtmosphereThe venue is bright and airy, when you walk in there is a bistro on the right side where you are able to order your food and drinks. The super large windows really help to keep the area bright letting all the natural light in which I absolutely loved. There were a few tables for people to commune at in the bistro area. On through the is a larger space with tables and chairs for people to set up camp for working or reading, really whatever you're in the mood for. On the far right side there was a wall full of board games, and if I hadn't been working I definitely would have tried to keep my title of Connect 4 champion in tact. There is music playing not too loudly overhead, some old school jams but also some new music too. Just overall a really great vibe.Food and drinksMy partner and I decided to try a few things. To drink I had the Bless Your Heart, which is a Ghirardelli caramel and French vanilla Latte. I'm usually and iced coffee girl, but this was hot and actually really good. My partner got the Mocha Caliente, which was Ghirardelli chocolate, cinnamon, and a tiny of cayenne, which she also really enjoyed. For food we tried a few different thing. As the lover of sweets that I am I got the cinnamon roll cake, we shared the spinach Jamaican patty, and my partner got a jalapeño cheddar bagel. Everything was amazing. That cinnamon roll cake might have been the best I've ever had. The patty was slightly crispy, and there was just a hint of spice on the tail end after the initial bite. The bagel was toasted well and the jalapeño and cheddar flavors really blended well together. We definitely enjoyed.ServiceThe staff was friendly and helpful, and it didn't take long for our drinks or food to be made.Verdict Hodgepodge is definitely a 10/10, and I would absolutely recommend. Lots of space, nice atmosphere, great drinks, and great food. I will definitely be coming here again.Until next time!
