The ambiance inside was really nice and clean. They take you into the back rooms if you choose to do hibachi. The guy who did our was super funny and kept playing jokes on my mom lol. I got hibachi chicken and my mom got chicken and shrimp, which was good. For apps we got Kani pockets and it comes with this mango sauce and it is delicious! The cream cheese just oozes out when you bite into. The only think I'm not a fan of is paying extra for fried rice. I feel like if we're selecting to do the hibachi fried rice should be included because that's apart of the experience. It was maybe extra $3 pp if you ordered fried rice. But nonetheless it was good.
A beautiful place to relax and have your dinner. Very entertaining chefs and clean environment.
Taki is the corner lot of a strip mall and is really a hidden gem. The servers must pull tips (which is great for customers) as they all tend to each table equally. The chefs are super entertaining and I think every time I've gone each chef showed a new trick I hadn't seen (seeing as how I use to go to Benihana for birthday dinner every year). The food is on point! I got the steak and scallop hibachi dinner with no veggies; double fried rice.
So I usually lean on the side of giving positive reviews, however I just can't with this place anymore. I've lived right around the corner for many years and have always driven farther away to get my hibachi. I tried it once years ago and thought it was really bad but tonight I thought I would give it one more shot. Bad decision. My filet was so rubbery I ended up throwing away the entire thing. The dipping sauce they use of for the shrimp is so sweet its just unedible. In addition, the ginger sauce for the salad is equally as sweet with no hint of ginger. I'm only giving two stars because the actual ginger dipping sauce for the meat was good and the vegetables were great.
Totally disappointed regarding lunch today. Went with a friend because I was craving Japanese food and this was the only place open between the lunch and dinner hour. We walked in and the guy who was hosting said it 'd be 5 minutes before we 'd be seated. He asked Liz, are you ready? Then we were seated at a table. We were given menus and the waiter took our drink orders. Once we were given our drink orders, we were ready to order our food which were a shrimp tempura bento box and a vegetable tempura bento box along with edamame. The soup was delivered and we finished that. Never saw our waiter again until we were exiting to go to our car more than an hour later. We sat waiting for the edamame, which was to be our appetizer. Finally delivered more than 30 minutes after we sat down. The bowls from our soup were never picked up. No one checked on us to explain why the food was taking so long or if we needed refills on our drinks or anything while we were waiting. No one told us that the waiter was going on break or who was covering our table. A young man delivered our bento boxes. My friend ended up being served vegetable bento box instead of the vegetable TEMPURA bento box. She decided not to send it back because of how long we had waited from when we arrived. Who knows when she would get the Tempura? My shrimp tempura was NOT the light panko battered shrimp typical for shrimp tempura. It was more like long fried shrimp Western style. I had to flag down the guy who was hosting to get to go boxes and ask for the fried ice cream dessert my friend wanted. The young man delivered the fried ice cream and I asked for the manager to voice our displeasure. He didn 't understand but he went to someone. The woman who was waiting on all the tables after we arrived came over and told us the manager was busy but would be over soon. I voiced my dissatisfaction and she kept acknowledging what I was saying but said manager would be over soon. The man who was hosting came over and I let him know about the waiter disappearing and not letting us know. He said he would talk to him. I then told him about lengthy delay in getting our food. His excuse was that they had to thoroughly clean the kitchen before they could start cooking our food. He would talk to the kitchen. You would think at this point, as a manager and for customer goodwill, he would have offered to comp something. No such offer came. Needless to say, no tip, except for 3 Pennies. This is a very old known tip to get a newspaper and find a new job. I 'd been a server before in my early days of working and that has stuck with me. We headed out and as I said earlier, as we were approaching the car outside, the waiter who took our order was walking towards us to go into the restaurant almost 2 hours after we first got there and wished us a nice day or something similar. What has happened to this place??? This is not the type of experience one wants to have at what used to be a pretty good place for service and food.
