While there are some identifiable signs indicating it's a restaurant, they are quite subtle. The sign for Viet Noodle Bar is so small that you could easily overlook it. I only realized I was at the right place when I checked the address on my phone and saw the numbers were clearly visible and large enough to read. Honestly, at first glance, I mistook it for a boutique. It certainly didn’t come across as a restaurant when I approached.
I absolutely love this Vietnamese restaurant! The fish noodles and spring rolls are amazing! I could drink the peanut sauce—it's perfect on everything. Plus, Viet is such a wonderful person. I find myself coming here about three times a week!
Viet Noodle Bar offers a diverse selection of Vietnamese dishes in a stylish and trendy atmosphere. As noted in a Los Angeles Times article titled "Inspired by a World of Ingredients," the restaurant's owner, Viet Tran, spent five years traveling through northern Vietnam to study the cuisine.
I found this place while I was looking for a nearby place that sold pho and went as soon as she opened for dinner at 5:00. You need to find street park with paid counters and the restaurant is a bit difficult to find in the dark because of no obvious sign and there is a small decal on the glass entrance. Two of our families took place, and I thought the place was extremely bare in terms of decor. If you asked me what kind of food they could sell on the basis of inside, I wouldn't have any idea. Anyway, we have the menu and I was shocked to see a beef pho sold for $20.45 and all other dishes at least $16. As Asian, I was in countless pho/Viet restaurants and prices are usually half of what you find here. I suppose Atwater Village area is too hip for my wallet. I ordered the Pho and a chicken dish. With a waiter who treated both din-in and take-out customers, we waited 20 minutes to get the food while the Togo friends seemed to get their food faster. The Pho was actually delicious and warm with good amount of beef. The rice dish was pretty decent, but I thought it was very dirty. After 40 dollars for two dishes and some for parking clock I came satisfied with my hunger, but I still think it is too expensive compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. At the time we left, there were quite many customers in which it was fed, but first it was dead without music and waited for food a little longer. At least the food was delicious, enjoy!
Love the turmeric fish noodle and their Pho! They are the only place on the East side that has the legit Pho flat noodle type (the type I have from Hanoi my hometown )since they make their own noodle. Staffs were very friendly and food was served quickly and fresh!
