I am glad that I followed the recommendation; the experience was wonderful! Not only are there options on the menu that differ from the usual breakfast price you find in other places, but everything was well prepared and the service was exemplary. Our waitress Nisha told us that this is a family business that has been open for almost a year. From decoration to obvious attention to customer service, the devotion of all these folks shows. The restaurant is small, but cozy, clean and decorated with wall paintings on the outside walls. There are flower pots and a swing on the front porch, also with railway themened toilets. Since it is located at the corner of the 6th and Green Streets, it is quite literally right next to the tracks, as the railway cross sign indicates in front of the restaurant. I cannot recommend this place very enough for breakfast or lunch that they are closed for dinner. I'll come back!
We loved this place. The employees were all very nice and real. I ordered the cookies and Gravy with the roasted chicken on it (I forget the name), but it was very good. I also have one side of the Pancake Hushpuppies because I just had to try this new idea! They were good, but too sweet for me. The others I really liked with. If I had lived here, this would be a regular breakfast place!
Great menu, vegan-friendly, and nice staff members. Cute little porch to sit outside and TVs to watch games if you like. I'd recommend you give them a try. They also deliver via Waitr. I had the vegan sloppy joe: a little vinegar heavy but mixed it with the sauce that came with the fried pickles and it made it better. Hubby had the fried chicken and pancake hush puppies: chicken was good.
This place was sooooooooooo good I wanted to suggest to the cook. I was so in love with my meal that I might have shed a tear or two. I could have embraced every last employee in the building. The food is a must taste and the customer service was phenomenal. There is no other place where I want to dinate differently from here. Bring the office, the family, the neighborhood and the church. I wish there were more than 5 stars.
Today my second visit to The Whistle Stop Cafe was in the last two weeks. The friendly staff, juicy atmosphere and good food with reasonable prices will go this restaurant on my places list. Bonus added: the train came by and blew its pipe! Location, location.
