Guadalupe's - Azusa

First and last time here. This place has a lot of potential but not there currently. Should've drove away soon as we parked and saw the cook in his old brown Honda Accord with clear light in the parking lot hawking mucus from his nose! You g waitress was friendly enough, until my Asada wet burrito came and I noticed that it wasn't asada inside but another beef, it was cooked with veggies as if to be used for multiple dishes, and there were no rice or beans inside this burrito. Waitress was hard to find even though it was relatively empty. She said burritos don't come with that, and I shouldve said something. ?? It's a burrito. Of course it's standard. My date ordered menudo, and it wasn't the best for sure. Soup was thick like they cook the maiz and meat together instead of separately like it's supposed to be made the right way. That was a clear sign they cut corners here. My date asked about their margaritas and waitress sheepishly said they use wine based. That's not a margarita then, why even have it on the menu?? Top it off, the cashier or maybe she was the owner, came to our table when we arrived, and we asked if they had some dish, she said no but then starting naming 2 nearby restaurants and recommended we try them and that they had her favorite this and that. ?? Shouldn't YOUR place have your favorite this and that? Very surprised to hear her say that. Again, we shouldve took it as a sign and left before they put complimentary chips and salsa that was clearly just CANNED whole peeled tomatoes with some chopped onions and cilantro added, gross. Their menu is so massive, confusing, hard to read in their dim lighting paired with burgundy menu highlighting and black letterhead inside the highlighting. Smh. Decorations in my opinion are overly done and could use upgrading. This could be a go to spot to watch sports, as they have big screen TVs, but they forget to turn up the volume that's instead muted. Again, lot of potential, but far from it when we visited our only time. Beware.

Best ground bf tacos ever. Only one problem they sometimes don’t answer their phone and they close earlier then they say they do.

Brianna was our waitress, she was awesome. I ordered the chili verde, I haven’t had chili verde for a while. This was so, so good. The rice and beans were delicious. This is the real authentic Mexican food. Thank you Guadalupe’s for an excellent experience. I’ll definitely be back.
