Surf's Out - Bay Shore

Not worth the drive. Average food, understaffed so service was awful/

I had a reservation at this restaurant and was seated at a small table next to a sliding door with poor air circulation. The table was so uncomfortable that my partner and I left before ordering, just like the couple next to us. We had a better experience dining here previously when seated at a different table. We returned later for drinks at the bar after eating at a neighboring restaurant. Unfortunately, there was an incident where my credit card was mistakenly given to another customer who used it to pay his bill and left with it. I had to cancel my card and report it stolen. The bartender was apologetic about the situation, so I was not too upset.

The restaurant confirmed 2 Open Table reservations for us on 2 consecutive nights. However, when we arrived for dinner on both nights, the restaurant was closed. There was no call, text, or email to inform us of the closure. It seems that common courtesy and customer service are no longer a priority for this establishment.

We have been eating here a few times a year for years now. We walk over from Robert Moses and walk back along the ocean under the stars. The food and menu have gotten worse and worse. There are not many vegetarian options anymore. Even the veggie burger was removed from the menu. We ordered edamame. It came out cold so we asked for it to be heated up. It came out cold the second time and we just ate it cold. I asked to order off the kids menu to get grilled cheese but was told I had to order the adult version (I guess that's on the lunch menu because it wasn't on the dinner menu). I didn't have a problem with that. The fries were very good. But the grilled cheese was pressed panini style and was burnt and hard. The service is good and the drinks are good. But the food has been increasingly disappointing each year. I think next time we will just have drinks and pizza when we get to Kismet.

Best lobster Mac and cheese you will ever find. All good is delicious. If you order a pitcher, tell them NO ICE or you will get mostly ice and just a bit of the drink.
