Confiserie Reine Mathilde - Bayeux

They must visit this beautiful bakery and gourmet sweets. we tried their chocolate clair and caracake. wow! They were delicious! everything in the shop looked wonderful and we wanted that we had more time to taste all the goodies! if they want delicious cakes, toraux, eclairs, etc., they must visit!

Our lonely planet guide suggested a visit to this place for either breakfast or afternoon tea. We decided on the latter. The decor is very late 1800's with bright white walls and ceilings, chandeliers and rose corniches. Just 6 tables of the wrought iron garden...furniture type, and chairs of the same make with a cushion. It only sold cakes, of which there was a lovely selection. I had a chocolate covered meringue and a cafe au lait. The wife chose a salted caramel macaroon and a hot chocolate. All served by a very pleasant english speaking waitress. All were delicious. Considering the opulent surroundings, the excellent service and the delicious cakes and drinks the bill of 11.80 euros was excellent value. Well worth a visit if your able to get a table.

This is our third visit to Bayeux. We always make a point if visiting the Confiserie as they have excellent coffee and pastries. The young gentleman who serves is very polite and efficient.

A wonderful pastry shop full of a variety of delicious options for every pallet. There was a selection of teas served with a teapot and warm milk which was perfect for me (they offered cold milk too). We ordered a few items to share...and each one had a unique flavour and texture. We took some chocolates and macaroons to go. A perfect place to sit and relax, spend a relaxing few minutes while shopping in town.

We had been here before on trips to Bayeux. This small location is on the main street of Bayeux. I say small because it seats only 18-20 people inside Their products are a delight to see and a real treat to enjoy. We have enjoyed...several pastries here. When you ask for a large coffee here, you get a large coffee. We just feel welcome when we visit this place. They deserve your business.
