They said if I didn't like it I could pick another. I got the royal tartan and it was a ton of food but they provide a box you can take the extra home. They also have an assortment of hats you can try on for pictures. Most people were dressed up and wearing hats or facinators but I just had on jeans and a dress shirt and that was fine too. It's a small place and we barely got a reservation so I would call ahead. We loved it and I'll definitely go again.
Highly recommend visiting the Tartan tea house in Bedford NS. What a lovely inviting decor. Every bite of the goodies on my tray and every sip of my rose tea was an experience of amazing flavours on my palette. They really put a lot of effort into everything they serve. Gracious and lovely hosts. I will definitely be back.
First time 7 of us went to the Tartan Tea House. It was fabulous! The decor, set-up and ambiance was delightful. We had a reserved table that was beautifully decorated and our host (the owner) went out of her way to make it a special event. She took pictures for us and even provided hats to those that forgot to bring them. The assortment of teas and food groupings was very diverse. Our hostest explained the differences to them all. This is a place to go to for a special treat and as far as I know, there is no other place quite like it in Halifax area. Will definitely be returning.
Checked out Tartan Tea House for Afternoon Tea today and couldn't recommend it enough. Ordered the Victorian tea and received two types of finger sandwiches (cucumber cream cheese and egg salad), as well as a scone with jam and clotted cream and three mini desserts (Battenberg cake, shortbread cookie and chocolate cupcake), and, of course, a pot of tea. Everything was fresh and tasted delicious, and was very filling. The owner/server is knowledgeable, so kind and very accommodating (she swapped out sandwiches that were not a preference for some to give them only what they preferred and when a group walked in claiming to have a reservation that staff were unaware of, they stayed very positive and got straight to the task of putting together a beautiful setting for them). The teacups are gorgeous, the tartan theme is adorable and the whole place is beautiful, cosy and quaint. Cups and utensils were very clean and polished. There are even hats you can borrow to wear for fun or for fancy pictures. There are limited parking spaces, however, there is overflow parking a few steps away. We already have plans to return. Highly recommend.
Amazingly delicious tea and lovely people! This tea house was a wonderful surprise. There is a large menu of excellent teas, along with the most delicious tea cakes, shortbread, sandwiches, scones with home made clotted cream and more, I've ever had and I've been to many in the UK and in North America. The welcoming hostess is knowledgeable on all the teas on offer, and the chef! oh my, it's impossible to leave without secretly planning to return for her dishes untried as yet, as well as repeats. The teas do not look as though you'll be loosening your belt before too long, and yet it is a sad fact that you'll very likely find it necessary. On fine days there's a great view of the Bedford Basin, and ladies, there are a number of hats available for you to wear if you fancy it will enhance your tea experience. This establishment is not large, so please call for reservations.
