La Cocina De Charo - Benahavis

Avoid this cafe. Much better places in the area. I notice all the good reviews appear to be pre pandemic. We visited post pandemic in August high season and had a poor experience for breakfast. Service was surly and rushed. We were told there were “no menus” in view of covid (every other place we visited in Spain had offered an online menu instead but this was not provided . We reluctantly ordered breakfast from the few options provided by the waitress. 3 plates of very basic scrambled or fried eggs and tinned beans or grilled tomato and a very small bread roll with cheese and tomato paste was served. Not entirely terrible, and would have been just passable had we not received a bill of almost 27 euros! (no receipt/invoice provided . They also refused to take card payment and insisted on cash (so much for “covid safety” . We had cheaper (and much better breakfasts at centrally located , better appointed cafes in Marbella and Granada this is a hum drum uncharacterful, “greasy spoon”affair in a tiny village not vey authentic, unless being ripped off for being foreign is considered authentic (which was NOT our experience elsewhere in Andalusia, where we felt most welcome .

Great lunch in a Spanish family run restaurant,homemade lentil soup followed by roast chicken and cheesecake.

A lovely little cafe where you can sit and have an amazing breakfast or at lunchtime a 3 course meal all homemade. We didn't have time to visit this month but if you would like to sit with the locals and soak up the atmosphere in Benahavis and maybe just have a beer or a coffee it really is lovely. Its the first eating place you come to as you enter the village run by a very hard working lady who is always very welcoming.

This place is so nice,sat outside in the sun they do some real nice coffee here and lovely cakes !!! Its the first place you see when entering the village and you just cant help stopping,

This is my favorite place for breakfast in benahavis Christina is so efficient and their scrambled eggs are to die for fantastic full breakfast and great coffee and orange juice highly recommend
