Punch Bowl - Bentham

Arrived Friday to be met by the son who immediately started shouting swearing at us for enquiring if he knew where we were pitching, Ed then arrived calmed him down. Was told where to pitch while doing so another camper was asking about his electric hookup said he didn’t think it was safe. The son replied he didn’t care about health safety, did he want it or not? Noise levels were ridiculous that night between the 3 owners dogs constantly barking one tent who seemed to be in all out party mode. The following morning the son was talking to the caravan next to us saying he had had complaints all night but didn’t want to answer the phone to them, he was told by his dad to cut their electric but he hadn’t. The toilet/shower block is shocking, literal mushrooms growing out of the floor, every time you flush you can hear it all bubbling up through the drains randomly there was the remains of a spaghetti bolognaise in a pot next to them. There’s a skip just at the gate to the toilets it is piled high stinking there are rats running through it. There are piles of burnt rubbish outside the caravans broken glass littered around. Electrics kept tripping but that was maybe because we were hooked up to the same one as 4 caravans 2 other tents. Party tent again that night until 1:30 then a row between campers as it was left to them to sort out themselves instead of the owners. All the son said was he had been left alone again as mum dad had gone to Falkirk for the second week running to family had left him by himself in his own words “24, stressed, alone extremely autistic”. I’ll wait for the reply from them as they seem to come back with all sorts of excuses arguments to bad reviews but they weren’t there, Ed deserves a medal for the abuse he gets on that site because of the sons mess he has to then try to sort out. Unfortunately Ed isn’t reason enough to re visit after talking to other campers who had the same experience we did, especially the swearing shouting during their stay I’d say everyone is under the same impression. There’s a reason why they aren’t on pitch up anymore theres a reason why they have to address the locals not liking them in their confirmation email after booking. Don’t do it to yourselves

DO NOT USE AT ANY COST! Had a groupon voucher and had arrange to use in April 2023 on the day of travelling had a email to say caravan had a leak and unable to use caravan unavoidable but atleast some form of communication. In July 2023 emailed the punch bowl again to see if there was any availability for August and to my delight there was! We had arranged to stay 7th August 2023 for 3 nights travelled down with 3 year old son and dog in tow for almost 3 hours to turn up to caravan site no one answered pub door, field looked scruffy but we knew it would be no ritz! Followed instructions from email on arrival husband went all around the field looking for someone and no one from the punch bowl there to answer our concerns and knocked on the pub door but no one answered, called the pub and a woman answered said we couldn't stay as the caravan was leaking I explained what did she want us to do at 18:15 at night with a 3 year old hungry and ready for bed she then told me I was aggressive on phone and putting my problems onto her! Looking through Facebook that night this has happened all week with many other disappointed children! Shameful actions from business owners and compassionate people you have called yourselves! Please learn from our mistakes!! Looking through Facebook the comments have all been removed from multiple families only good reviews left! Safety: Turn up after travelling 3 hours to be left with no where to stay and no answer for this other than we are putting our problems onto them as a business who have offered a contract of a 3 nights stay in their facility! Looking at the campsite and reviews we too have had a very lucky escape! But to out a 3 year old back on the Motorway for another 3 hours is highly UNACCEPTABLE!

Extremely friendly and helpful owners. Had booked a meal and we were given the choice to eat by our tent as it was a lovely evening. Waiter service from the owners son. Fantastic young man. Service: 5 Location: 5
