Mallee Fowl - BERRI

When we arrived, we found ourselves the only patrons there (it was midweek), yet the warm welcome we received was heartwarming! A lovely lady served us at our table, exuding friendliness and efficiency. The atmosphere, complete with its Aussie-themed decor, was fascinating and provided plenty of conversation starters – we probably still missed a few things to admire! Now onto the FOOD… simply brilliant! We started with the dips, which were not your typical hummus and beetroot varieties. Instead, we enjoyed a carrot and Australian pepperberry dip, a bush tomato chutney, and a macadamia dip, all served with homemade lavosh-style crackers seasoned with pepperberry. It was a solid 10 out of 10! For our main course, we each ordered burgers, which were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The chef even customized my daughter's burger, which she devoured in no time. The restaurant had excellent air conditioning, a welcome relief on a hot day, and offered a lovely selection of wines and beers, though a wine list would be a great addition. Overall, this restaurant is an amazing and intriguing place that is a must-visit, especially for international visitors. As a fifth-generation Aussie, I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the good Aussie music playing in the background. Highly recommended! This place boasts a fantastic atmosphere, filled with charming rustic decor and vintage memorabilia adorning the walls. After four visits to Riverland, we finally managed to snag a table, and our expectations were high. The service was exceptional, with friendly staff who genuinely cared about ensuring our satisfaction, even though they were incredibly busy attending to a large number of customers. At one point, the owner came out to greet us, which added a special touch to our wonderful evening. The food was quite tasty (see photos), although two of the four dishes had sauces that were slightly burnt. The portion sizes are generous, so be prepared to leave well-fed. My husband was particularly fond of the garlic bread! Overall, it's a lively venue with delicious food and lovely staff, making for a great night out.
