My friend and I got a couple appetizers to share, the tuna crudo, and a special that was an experiment from the chef, both were fabulous! The chefs skill and knowledge is clearly reflected in the food, very creative and delicious flavors; it was such a treat! I'm sure dinner would be incredible just based on the attention to detail in the appetizers. I wish I got pictures because the plating was beautiful as well. Our bartender was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, THE best espresso martini we've ever had (and we've had quite a few) we'd go back just for that lol. Ambiance was great, we sat at the bar. Next time I'd love to sit outside by the fire pits it's so beautiful at night with the lights, such a cozy elegant comfortable vibe. Very clean and you can tell so much thought went into every detail of the interior space. Thank you again! can't wait to come back
Small menu, but it was excellent! We opted for the swordfish and it was cooked perfectly. It was the best we have ever had. The small plates were all great too. Cocktails were great too. Loved the space.
Would have giving 5 stars across the board, but the size of the serving to the price point is slightly off. The taste and presentation of the food is incredible, the service is attentive, yet not overbearing which is how it should be. The cocktails are innovative and tasty. Great place for a date night or drinks and eats with a group. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
Really cute place for drinks! It’s a fancy date night vibe, the outdoor space is lovely. Great addition to Biddeford. Food is pricey, and when we went it was very plant forward. Cocktails were great though Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
Magnus has a lot to like. both eating and drinking strive for creativity and are prepared with care. service is friendly and knowledgeable and the small dining room seats about twenty tables, and others at the bar and is light, airy and attractive. there is also a terrace that looked pleasant. we liked our eating very much, but just a short time before a rave. the best dish consisted of inherited tomaten with muscheln escabeche. the taste married beautiful and the dish was both satisfying and refreshing. other dishes were not entirely what the menu leads one to expect. bluefin thunfisch crudo with tomatillos and Shisito peppers was a generous part, but also had unnamed Jalapeno peppers that led to unexpected heat. there are two escapes per night, and the escape turned out to be a familiarity I would never have ordered, I would have known, but as it is, it was good. magnus encouraged to share small plates, but we did not find the parts large enough to share among three people; it might have worked for two, I suppose. all dishes come in high sided plates that make everything a challenge. the small plates made a plentiful starter for a person who escaped, the two of us scanned a little, just a pretty little bit. magnus would be an expensive meal for someone with a big appetit. the real effort has gone into creating a new list of craft cocktails, and these are obviously popular as there are three people behind the bar in the night we came. it is worth knowing that while the descriptions make the drinks on the sweet side sound, they are actually graceful and balanced. my sazerac sounds as if it were very strong on the anis side, and had also Himere in it, but the first article was held back accordingly and the Himere was just a note that was perceptible but well worked. Note that magnus refers to water street, and not to the sea. the main entrance of the restaurant is not visible from the street, so the building is easy to miss, but it is the first building when it is from main st. to water. there is a self-paid parking space two blocks further down water and a few vertical spaces a block closer that were all filled around 17:30 clock, but there are simple parking on side roads. and while the card app said it would take 30 minutes or so from portland, in a hurry hour it actually took 45.
