The most annoying part of dinner was however the fact that they did not accept credit card but only cash. I asked why and they said they do not have a credit card machine. I said to get one if they want tourists to come in their restaurant, they replied that all bars in town don't accept credit cards. While this might be true for many small business, or when you pay small amounts of money, this is hard to believe for restaurants and bars. My bill was over 53 euros and if I had to pay cash for three meals a day for the duration of our stay in Europe, I would have to carry with me thousands of dollars. I would never go back to that restaurant as I consider their policy and behavior unacceptable.
Well we discovered Amstel ORO here, that is a good thing. The selection of pinchos was a tad limited, but we gave it a go. Enjoyed the beer more that the food, may I add. Nice location in the old town and we came by one day later at night and the area was quite animated and fun.
What can I say, the people who work there are exceptionally rude towards guiris or foreigners. The bar staff were arrogant and ignored myself and my husband (we both speak Spanish, one is a native speaker but not from Spain). Once we were FINALLY served the bartender was mocking the fact that foreigners don 't know Spanish to an other couple at the bar evidently unaware we understood everything. I have never felt so unwelcome in a place.
Went out looking for pintxos stopped at kukusoak, should have just left, barmaid could not understand vino blanca other customer had to tell her what we were saying, now i am not a native spainish speaker but i do supervise a crew of hispanics at home and i know how to say white wine. Service was extremley surly, after the barmaid was replaced by a bartender things were no better more interested in washing the dishes than selling any food or drink. The worst thing was the pintxos were probably the best we had all night lamb sausage was fantastic. Hey folks your bar is in a tourist area if you dont want tousists coming in please put a sign up
Nice to sit outside in the sun at this place. Really nice friendly service, with good drinks and nice tapas. Would definitely return.
