There were four of us together, we were seated right next to the bar after waiting outside for about 20 minutes. Once seated we quickly placed our orders. Our server somehow forgot about us and our food was served before we received our drinks. Two of our orders were incorrect and we dealt with it. After eating we requested separate checks and our waiter quickly returned to ask if we were paying with credit cards. We were and he said it would be easier to split it with the cards. We gave him our cards and when he returned he had decided to divide our check by four rather than actually splitting it up with what each person ordered. I did not feel the service was very good so I did not leave a large tip. Apparently the server, from my bill did not feel it was adequate and decided to take additional money. I called my bank to report the error and they suggested I call the restaurant to see if they would credit my account. I called the restaurant five times before I was able to speak to the manager Miguel. When I informed him that I was overcharged and another person I was with was overcharged he told me I would have to come into get my money. I live over 1,000 miles away and he suggested I get someone I know to come and get my money for me and then send it to me. He also told me the standard tip in Boston is 18%, and that is why my bill was larger. I responded that was not the amount that I authorized and if one of my employees was stealing from customers I would appreciate knowing. The owner David has been unreachable to hear about how his customers are being treated. I would not recommend this restaurant for its food and definitely not for its customer service.
The Zach kid who wrote the review before this one obviously has bad taste in food. Salsa's is the BEST Mexican food I’ve ever had. And I’ve lived in Texas! I know good Mexican food. The kitchen staff makes home made salsa, which is, again, the BEST I’ve ever had. Everything I ate there was fresh, of good quality, and delicious. The menu is authentic but also diverse. It contains all the dishes you would expect to see at a Mexican restaurant along with some unique and finer dishes you would see at a more expensive restaurant. Also, when it comes to atmosphere, Salsa's has a huge bay window that surrounds an area that's almost like a deck. It's a perfect place to drink a beer and watch the snow. I can't say enough about this place. Hell, I’m going again tonight.
This place had been recommended by friends, and nearly all reviews online are very positive, but my experience with it was nearly worthless. The food is more than terrible, let alone inauthentic and overpriced. We paid over $8 each for a plate of tacos and quesadillas, and neither amounted to more than shredded Kraft cheese, tortillas, and terrible microwaved-tasting chicken accompanied by tasteless beans and rice. I swear I am not exaggerating when I say I have at better food on airplanes and at hospitals. Please do not waste your money or time on this place.
After dinner, we requested separate checks, and our waiter promptly returned to ask if we would be paying with credit cards. We agreed, and he mentioned it would be easier to split the bill among the cards. However, when he returned, he had divided the check into four parts rather than splitting it according to what each person ordered. I wasn't happy with the service, so I didn't leave a generous tip. Apparently, the server felt differently and decided to add extra money to my bill without my consent. When I noticed the mistake, I called my bank, and they advised me to reach out to the restaurant to see if they could rectify the situation. I called the restaurant five times before finally speaking with the manager, Miguel. I explained that I had been overcharged and one of my friends was also mischarged. He told me I would have to get someone local to retrieve my money and send it to me, as I live over 1,000 miles away. Additionally, he informed me that the standard tip in Boston is 18%, which contributed to the higher total. I insisted that this wasn't the amount I had authorized, and that if one of my employees were to steal from customers, I would want to know. The owner, David, was unavailable for me to discuss how customers are treated. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant, either for its food or for its poor customer service.
The previous review by Zach-Kid clearly reflects poor taste in food. Salsa offers the best Mexican cuisine I've ever experienced, and I've lived in Texas, so I know what good Mexican food is! The kitchen staff prepares their own salsa, which is the best I've ever tasted. Everything I've tried there has been fresh, high-quality, and absolutely delicious. The menu is authentic yet diverse, featuring all the classic dishes you’d expect at a Mexican restaurant, along with some unique and upscale options you might find at a more expensive place. The atmosphere is also lovely, with a large bay window surrounding a space that feels almost like a deck—perfect for enjoying a beer while watching the snow fall. I can't recommend this place enough. I'll definitely be returning tonight!
