Shenfield Tandoori Restautant

Was in there with friends last week. Food reasonable, but not as good as Empire across the road. For some reason it was cash only. Think we all know what that means. Waiter ‘made a mistake’ when counting the cash, so we had to count it again in front of him to prove the amount was correct. . Hmmmmm.

Very disappointed and left very annoyed. Started off with a booking for 9, they wanted to put us on two tables of 4 joined together with a bench so we said no. They did accommodate that. We ordered our food, I ordered lamb chops £17). Four chops arrived, two looked decent size, two were pathetic with a mouthful on each. The two which looked decent size were in fact mainly fat. I took a bite out of one and was chewing for so long that I couldn’t swallow it. Without wanting to do anything revolting at the table I had to excuse myself to go to the bathroom as quickly as I could. No bins in the toilet either. I returned to the table and this time used my knife to try and cut the other chop, I would have needed a steak knife to stand a chance and that would have still been a struggle! I was the last to finish eating due to the issues above, that didn’t stop them clearing all the plates around me and were taking the table cloths off from either end, he even started tugging on the cloth of the table I was sitting on. I asked if they needed us to leave and he said no take ‘your time no rush’. This was around half 9/10 so not late and the restaurant wasn’t even half full so they didn’t need to turn the table. They stand round and look over your table. They had no issue leaning over me and nudging me to get to the plates they wanted to clear. The bill arrived, £310, beers were about £7 for a bottle of mongoose. In my opinion totally unreasonable pricing considering my £3 pint of coke came from a bottle that costs £2

I have been going to Shenfield Tandoori for years and they never disappoint. Outstanding food and always a warm welcome. Best Indian around for miles!

Very good food. We all enjoyed out meals. Nice friendly atmosphere. I thought the drinks were a bit pricey but most restaurant drinks are now. We would definitely go back.

The coldest restaurant we ate with our coats on, asked waiter why it was so cold? because it is cold outside. The food was tasteless it had little or no taste, almost forgot I was eating Indian food!!!! AVOID AT ALL COST I should have read the signs almost empty restaurant POOR VERY POOR
