Friendly service, cozy atmosphere. More dining tables upstairs. Nice menu options, the guac and chips were warm and deelish. The Sopa de Tortillas was very tasty, as were the fish tacos. It is a good find for when taking in the festivities in midtown.
Went on New Years Eve and the place was pretty empty, because patrons were not allowed to enter the street as it was blocked by NYPD for the New Year’s celebration in Times Square. I expected with the emptiness to get good quick service, but that was far from the scenario. We were provided a special NYE menu which was a five course meal for roughly $95 per person. No big deal most restaurants near TSQ were doing similar, but also allowing patrons to order from the appetizer menu, not this place. They did graciously allow me to purchase bruschetta separately and guac and chips (not sure why we ordered Italian from a Mexican restaurant, first mistake), but the waitress failed to mention the price, and I suppose she assumed we would understand astronomical pricing because it’s NYE. I was charged $30 for two pieces of bread that measured about 3 inches by 2 1/2 inches wide; See receipt picture next to the other piece of bruschetta (which we did not eat because it wasn’t good) called “Amuse”. I suppose they were AMUSED to charge some folks from Detroit $15 for a 3 inch piece of bread with a few diced tomatoes, a pinch of oil and basil on it. Also, the service was slow and when we asked for a side of salsa the waitress looked at us and pretended to not understand what salsa was but instead offered to get hot sauce…..REMINDER: in a Mexican restaurant eating chips, she didn’t understand salsa. I can only assume that was intentional.
Saw this place on instagram. Contrary to many reviews the food is pretty good and atmosphere is nice. However, service is extremely slow. Mentioned it was a birthday many times they forgot one dessert and to sing. Until we reminded them after the fact. The tax and fees are crazy so watch out. The crazy love cocktail is very good. Ordered a drink to go they gave me a faulty lid so half of it spilt in my car and stayed coming off. Mixed feeling about the place.
Server wasn’t the nicest and made a big deal out of separating the bill for two people (and it wasn’t busy or anything). Claimed it was impossible but it obviously wasn’t since they eventually did it… That being said, the food was pretty good.
