While here on holiday in Acle, we visited The Kings Head. Overall, it was a lovely evening However, when we sat down for our meal, several items were not available, as we were told they’d had problems with their supplier. Anyway, I ordered the homemade soup, which was very nice, followed by the 6 oz sirloin steak, again which was delicious. Staff wise, although very friendly, were a bit on the slow side, but didn’t spoil our evening Our only real complaint was that there was a dog in the restaurant, which kept barking. I feel that, although I love dogs, a restaurant is not the place for dogs. Otherwise, a very pleasant evening.
Friendly, professional, caring staff. Warm welcome. Can do attitude. Cosy atmosphere and calm ambience in both pub and restaurant . Good size, modern, clean bedroom and bathroom. Very comfortable beds. Excellent food, was impressed with both dinner and breakfast. Quality produce, value for money and exceptionally well cooked.
Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. Despite the fact that it was not very busy, we were seated at a less-than-desirable table. The service was extremely slow, and our waitress seemed to be inexperienced or nervous. The food was mediocre, with my steak being overcooked and the profiterole undercooked. We left most of our meal uneaten, but it was cleared away without any acknowledgment. The process of ordering drinks was also painfully slow, so we decided to cut our losses and end the night early. We may consider giving this restaurant another chance once they have had time to adjust. One major improvement that could be made is replacing the unappetizing black and white cow photos, which do not fit in with the overall decor.
The restaurant and bar at the hotel offered a great selection of drinks, and we enjoyed a delicious evening meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Although we didn't have breakfast, we would expect it to be of the same high quality as the dinner. Additionally, there is a large free parking lot available. Overall, the King's Head in Acle is a fantastic place to stay while exploring Norfolk and the broads, and we even ventured as far as Sheringham and Cromer. If we were to return to the area, we would definitely stay here again.
