Coffee looked like instant Horlicks! Ordered a flat white and a cappuccino and there was little difference other than the chocolate on the top. Zero foam/froth and taste. Could have made a better coffee with a spoon of instant would certainly have had more flavour. Staff need training to a competent level especially as it’s supposed to be a ‘ Coffee House’. Noticed coffee beans were on sale but if the flavour (or lack of) of the coffee was anything to go by I can’t believe they sell many bags. We try whenever possible not to go to Costa, Starbucks etc but to support independent businesses, but in this case, having paid £6 ish on what tasted like two cups of warm milk (yes, wasn’t hot either), we won’t be returning to this one. I can’t comment on the food and I guess that any positivity re the coffee is from people who aren’t big coffee drinkers. Could have done with a good clean too. Maybe worth popping to the Cow and Bean over the bridge to see how a flat white should be prepared.
No attempt to follow COVID rules. This has to be the worst place I’ve visited recently, or this year, where government rules are just ignored. It seems this place will just turn a blind eye to multi households sitting inside together, people not wearing a face covering as the queue or walk in, or sanitise tables and just let others sit in the same place. Cleanliness is poor. These people (mixed households) were obviously from different households, as they were loudly saying it’s so good to catch up indoors. There were multiple tables showing this. No one is challenged or asked anything. You have a duty to protect others. For this I will never visit here again!
Met a friend here early on a Sunday morning before a walk around the nearby Petts Wood. We arranged to meet here thinking it would be more pleasant to find each other than waiting around the station. This local coffee shop is a real find. Lovely home made cakes, nice teas, friendly service. Especially liked the pumpkin cake. We were from different households so caught up at one of the tables outside before starting our walk. Everything was clean including the bathroom. Recommended.
Welcoming and friendly from the moment we walked in. The food was very delicious indeed and prompt. It was a celebration brunch as my daughter had just had her GCSE results and she was given a complimentary milkshake to congratulate her. I can not fault anything. Looking forward to our second trip.
