Great restaurant! Great food! Great staff! I can't say enough good about this place. Had the halibut fish and chips. Fish was cooked perfectly. Friends ordered the rock fish and chips, the poke nachos, salmon fish and chips, and crab cakes. They were so busy, and were understaffed that day, and being as we came in during the last hour they were open, they were out of crab for crab cakes and were out of rockfish. They took the very last of the crab, which only made 2 cakes, and gave them to us free. They comped our desserts and my friend's margarita due to the inconvenience of being out of crab and rockfish. The staff was open and communicative, attentive, and apologetic. They strove to make our dining experience great. The food was great and the crab cakes were some of the best I've had in Brookings!! Will definitely be coming here again!!!
Seriously delicious. Casual dining experience with slightly upscale foods. The crab cakes are miraculous. The halibut fish and chips are juicy and delicious. The spicy poke is fresh and amazing. Go there....ASAP!
We randomly stopped here to grab some dinner while coming through Brookings on our honeymoon. BEST DECISION EVER. The staff was amazing. She was talkative with us, attentive to our needs. They even shaped our halibut wrapped in Dungeness crab into a heart after we told them we were on our honeymoon. The chicken tenders and fries were fried in the most AMAZING batter. The clam chowder was the best we have ever had (and we have had chowder all up and down the east coast). Also, they gave us menus and stickers and homemade sea salt for us to put in our honeymoon scrapbook. Highly recommend this place.
Edit: This had started as a 5 star as my first visit was only shortly after opening, so the mistakes were easily overlooked. Original review at bottom. I believe every place deserves a second chance and even a third. At this point even if I wanted to give it another try, none of my family or friends will risk the expenses for maybe good food and most likely an odd service experience. After a 3rd visit here, sadly I have to say I will not return. In the past I have (mostly) enjoyed multiple menu items including poke, gyro, tacos, chowder, crab cakes and more. The interaction with our server has been slighty uncomfortable the first and second visit and wildly odd the third trip. To the Owner, who served us our first two trips, I'd recommend not sharing all your faults and issues out loud with guests trying to establish their own opinion of your new restaurant. Also it is very uncomfortable for the guests. This last visit the male server seemed to be completely lost as how to seat people or even interact with them. Too much oddity to list, but at the end of our meal, we had two checks. Neither of them were correct. One of them missing drinks and the second was nearly $30 more than it should have been. We wrote on each check exactly what we ordered, including the multiple items he missed. The server brought back the two checks still missing items and with the incorrect totals. At this point I can only image he just really did not want to charge us for all our drinks and appetizers. The Gyro I had on my second visit was amazing, and the meat was well seasoned. I recommended this gyro to many people after I had it. Sadly the third trip was a huge disappointment, especially since myself and my friend both ordered the gyro. It was night and day from our first experience and the meat was flavorless and bland. The crab cakes we had on the first visit were made with so much bell pepper it was hard to taste any crab otherwise. Plus the price is very steep considering the size and the amount of crab you (don't) get. I love crab cakes and order them often and this were more near the bottom of the list. The chowder was nearly spot on, minus is was very over salted. Remember, we can add the salt if we want it. The tacos were good, although my first experience with the rockfish tacos had a very fishy taste as in old fish. No bueno Original Review: Great place with some amazing food. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Love the poke and that Gyro is on point.
