Omori is my go-to spot- I love to bringing friends here, popping in on a whim, grabbing take-out… their fish is super fresh, so I always get some type of sashimi, love their yakitori, LOVE their “Omakase”… the only thing I don’t recommend is their regular rolls, everything else is top notch and well priced. Their patio is lovely for nice weather and for Brookline people watching. I like the casual atmosphere inside- one of the only places I like to sit at those shared bar tables. Less than 10 min from JP (where the food is seriously lacking).
This a fast paced restaurant, in a good way! If you're in or around the Brookline Village area, Make sure to check this place out. *CALL AHEAD TO RESERVE A SEAT* This place gets packed..rather quickly. Great staff and ample seating here. Drinks are fantastic and the food is amazing! Lots of options to choose from on the menu. There is plenty of street parking, with the Green line T stop just below. Omori Izakaya aims to please. Come check them out and you'll see why
The food is amazing here. Honestly when I walked into this restaurant I didn't expect the food to be so good. We ordered several dishes. The appetizer beef tongue really amazed me. The beef tongue was seasoned with salt and scallions and were very tender. We also ordered some yakitori and they were great. I liked the chicken skin the most. We also ordered fried tofu with dashi and fried squid tentacles. The tofu was very soft and the dashi was tasty. The fried squid was crispy also. Finally we ordered some raw fish. The sashimi was fresh and with good quality. Would definitely visit again.
This place has a lot of variety, and for those who are selective about what they eat, they should be able to find at least something. One can order many different kinds of food as the portion is small, and then try them all. In terms of food quality, it is pretty good, just not outstanding. When it comes to Japanese food here in the United States, sometimes one can feel like it tastes very similar no matter where one goes. My friends and I did not order a lot of dishes, but the one we got were solid. Next time I visit, I should give the Omakase for 2 a try to see if that will enhance my experience!
