The food was good for the others, but it was a bad luck for me because I asked not to have sheep in my flesh and they have sheep cheese for me and sheep meat. The desert was good, especially the cream brûlée. The live music makes everything better, especially the band with the trumpet, saxophonist and the guy with the dulcimer .
Jaristea Locanta is a revival restaurant atmosphere that is dressed between the 2 World Wars Bucharest time, with a lady-host owner dressed as in the 30’s-40’s, always an eye over the show, as well as over the kitchen and waiters as in the... old times. Practical is one of the few restaurants in Bucharest with a full evening and varied local show. There is not only food and old time decoration, but the show is also great, offering a wide range of artistic moments that complete the atmosphere, including some local top moments and artists, and of course also original folk-popular traditional music artists who can only sing at your table – if You like them, you can give them a small tip (50-100 Lei 10-20 Euro) and they can also stay for other foreign songs – they know to play. The restaurant prices are not bad at all. The service is pretty good. All you need is to book by phone in advance. Search for Locanta Jaristea. Each table offers a good view, but those close to the scene are of course bigger. Try to be on time to not miss the show at the beginning. Enjoy it!
I went one day to eat there... Asked what I want to drink, requested fresh orange juice as me and my friend were checking menu's... Picked to dishes... Waiter come, as for them, they di not have either one. I refused to choose something else,...because I came there for that particular dishes... Asked for check... Waiter came and said that the ammount of money is too small so they do not want to print it... For sure, no way I will return there...
I was there with friends. Food was very good and also the performance of local artists.
Jaristea is either a can 't miss or a don 't bother depending on your attitude and sense of humour (and whether or not someone else is paying). It is like eating Christmas dinner at your crazy old aunt 's house the one that never threw anything...away and still likes to pinch your cheeks even though you are 45. Yes there is a lot of old junk everywhere but not arranged in any meaningful or aesthetic way. Yes there is live entertainment but some of it is painful (although some of the performers are very enthusiastic). The menu is full of strange dishes and odd comments on history but regardless of what you order it will be uniformly awful Chef 's reach exceeds his grasp. Prices are similar overreaching. Waiters deliver your food as if it was Paris cordon blu. The enthusiastic disconnect makes the whole experience surreal. It is as if a glamorous 1950 's Bucharest restaurant time travelled to present day but all the food and people had aged normally. Going for lunch is probably a really bad idea. I can 't imagine daylight improves the place. I have not idea what to think of the place. I 'll go again if you 're buying.
