Maybe at one time but that is no longer the case. Where to start....when we arrived no one greeted us. We noticed a girl in track pants behind the counter looking at us and approached her, telling her we had a reservation. She yelled towards the back of the restaurant that the reservation had arrived and proceeded to seat us. We ordered guacamole and queso to share. While the queso was ok the guacamole was mostly sour cream and tasted overwhelmingly of garlic. Not much avocado was detected. When we first arrived, there was another customer complaining rather loudly about her meal - specifically that her chicken tasted like fish and wondering if they had made it fresh. We tried to ignore her and enjoy our evening. A few minutes later though, as she and her party were trying to leave, the police were called. The manager/owner/chef refused to return her bank card when she asked that something be removed from her bill! Lots of yelling ensued. I'm not too sure who called the police as both she and the owner were threatening to call. By the time the police arrived, everyone in the restaurant was very uncomfortable. After this drama the same girl came by to take our dinner order. We ordered a beef tostada, a lamb tostada, chicken enchiladas and a chimichanga. Our friend who ordered the lamb tostada specifically asked several times if it could be made mild as he can't tolerate spicy food. He was assured that yes, it would be very mild. While the meals were very large, they were sloppy and didn't look very appetizing. Presentation was lacking. I had two bites of the chimichanga and pushed it aside. It was supposed to be a chicken chimi but it did not taste or look right. Our friend who requested the mild spice ended up switching plates with his wife because he couldn't eat his meal. It was too spicy. My husband had the beef tostada and said it was ok but more of an Indian stew in taste. The chicken enchiladas were also rated as just ok. Overall, the flavours were Indian not Mexican. No one came by to check on us during the meal and we finally ended up flagging the girl down to get the bill. At this point I wasn't feeling well and just wanted to head home. The girl asked if I wanted my food boxed up and I told her no, that it didn't taste right and I didn't want it. She did return a few minutes later and say we wouldn't have to pay for my meal as I didn't eat it.After reading other reviews I wonder if the restaurant changed owners/managers or if they just don't care anymore. The restaurant is in a great location, nicely decorated, and could really be something special if they just put in a little effort. Overall it was an extremely disappointing evening and we won't be returning.
The restaurant offers generous portions of food for approximately $16 each, featuring a wide variety of options suitable for vegetarians, gluten-free diners, and meat lovers alike. The Mexican decor and props create a fun atmosphere for taking photos. Being a BYO establishment makes it a budget-friendly choice for a night out. Whether you're looking for a family-friendly meal or a cozy dinner for two, this restaurant is perfect. We love it so much that we go every few weeks and always bring our friends along - they all enjoy it too!
After being away for about a year, we decided to revisit this restaurant. Unfortunately, the unique charm of the Mexican/Indian fusion cuisine seemed to have diminished. It appears that they have altered or removed all the elements that made the food stand out. Now, they are struggling to balance both cuisines, with the Mexican dishes being messy and average, and the Indian dishes lacking creativity.
We had dinner last night. I was a bit confused as is Mexican and Indian but lets try it.Lady that was serving us was very polite and plesant. As we came with our kids she straight away offered a high chair.Meal came quick and and was ok not totally mex but tasty. To sum it up I would recommend it
We went to Amigos to try it out. This place is perfect for casual atmosphere and good honest food. The food is packed full of flavour and its huge! Bunbury doesn't have many places that are good value and good food. It also does really delicious cocktails. This place is a little mexican secret in Bunbury.
