Server was fine, the ambience had a strange mood. Many places to go, and I could be a...other next time than that was average in my books
I can't believe how long an Americano took. Place was slow, but with only one person behind the machine that was super slow, I waited for a drink for over 15 minutes, with only one person in front of me. Awful! Coffee went downhill. Be bitter.
This review applies to the 400-4th Ave site. SW. We arrived shortly after 3 o'clock on a snowy April afternoon looking for warmth and sociality. What a disappointment. We ordered green tea and 10 minutes later the long whistler waiters began to sneak the chairs on the tables around us. I asked if they would close early (the shield says open to 5), and she answered that she put the chairs to the mop and then laid them down again. They never came down. At mopping (I noticed that she was the bathroom FIRST, then the restaurant floor), and at other customers, she was scattered and hit the bar equipment, made more noise than a line cook in a fish market. When people began to leave, there were more crashes of tables and chairs than they did their best to fly there 5 customers damned. I was with a friend who first visited Calgary, and unfortunately this had to be his first look at Calgary's coffee culture scene. Not recommended. Better go a few blocks to Devonian Gardens to enjoy a peaceful green oasis and all the food and coffee choices you want.
What pulled me in, the papers were on sticks on the wall. It spoke of Europe, although the situation in a busy part of Calgary's Plus 15 raised sidewalk. Not that I had read the time, only enough for an Americano and Croissant....The Americano was excellent, and they asked if I stayed, so they served it in a beautiful cup. The croissant was very good, but the butter was frozen. The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is now on my coffee list in downtown!
Good spot for a meeting. Menu selection is small for other drinks. I had a chai latte with almond milk. Tasted good but I got with added sweetener they want to put in. Also got a bottle of water for $8.25 before tip. Good value...for money. I would go back again for sure.
