Earls Calgary Shepard Flats

Mu wife and I have been here a few times, food is generally very good. On the last visit I found the service I would say disinterested from the time we entered until the time we left. No one really took us to our table, then my wife requested a straw very simple ask. We asked our server twice and then asked another server passing by. It took awhile and the second server brought it to the table. Small thing but really? :)We consistently order the calamari that is typically very good, I don't know whether they've changed the recipe but this was over breaded to the point that's all you could taste. Beer was good, their house lager.Will I be back, I'm not sure, 130 Ave has a lot of decent restaurants.

We brought our lacrosse team to Earls for team dinner. They were able to set up two separate tables for players and parents. Being an early dinner the Happy Hour deals still applied, so the majority of the team ordered the burger and a side of fries.The food came out cold. There was an error on one of the parent's order, and it was difficult to get it rectified. When the bills came, everyone who ordered the Happy Hour burger was entered incorrectly resulting in overcharges. The waitress was unable to remove the incorrect order and re-enter with the correct order. This resulted in a significant delay, and confusion. Overall, most parents in our 25 person party left dissatisfied.When we booked the reservation, we were told they normally do not have large parties. Having said that, we would not choose Earls again for a team dinner.

Went here with my senior parents for a late lunch on Tuesday. Decided to sit in the restaurant area, as it seemed the least busy. They led us to a booth and the first thing we noticed were a lot of food and crumbs on both seats, which I took a napkin to and cleaned off myself. There was also dropped food on the floor right beside the table. It's my belief that when you come to a restaurant, you should be able to sit down without sitting in someone else's food, or squishing someone else's food under your feet. This was not a children's McDonald's....Then we ordered our drinks and noticed that three pieces of cutlery had food stuck to them. We asked for new cutlery and the waitress brought some out. Again, I think the staff should be having a quick look at these things, as they're setting the table...The last time I brought my mother there, she raved about the clam chowder and couldn't wait to have it again, also talking my father into ordering it. My dad and I shared the calamari, which was just, meh....Both my parents complained to the waitress that the clam chowder was watery and just ok. My dad said it tasted like canned chowder.My mom had to ask for more dressing for her caesar salad, because she felt it was a little on the dry side.No salt or pepper on the table, not did the waitress ask if we needed any salt or pepper.My Hunan Kung Pow Chicken was pretty good and normal for Earls.After all this, no seniors discount or anything complimentary was offered to my parents. Doubt we'll ever go back there. There are many other restaurants in that area and we'll probably try another place next time.....

I visited for a girly catch-up with my sister in the mid-evening. We ate and had cocktails. Other than the lack of a vegan friendly dessert choice, Earls caters to everyone and is a great choice to go as a group. The staff are efficient, friendly and know their menu, any doubts on allergens and they locate the info. Cocktails are pleasant too :)The patio area at the 130th location is nice, as the windows allow for an outdoor feel and can be closed if their is wind, so no need to move tables. The cushioned seating is nice too.

Had lunch here with a friend and we had the avocado on toasted bread and the chicken tacos. Both were very good. The chocolate dessert pudding was rich and delicious. Servers were helpful and friendly.
