Haig Italian Restaurant - Canberra

Staff were lovely but that's the only good thing. Food was extremely overpriced for what you get, and you could easily make better for less at home. Cheese balls were okay, but bland and nothing special. Sausage and pea fettuccine was frozen peas (still hard, starchy, bland), cheap sausages and really bland. Prawn spaghetti with lime and coriander tasted like a couple of prawns with tinned tomatoes and a tiny squeeze of lime. Overall very bland as well and uninspiring. Pasta was undercooked, which was surprising considering how long it took to come out. Ordered a side of veggies as well which never came - even though we were one of only three tables in the whole restaurant. Didn't end up paying for them. Restaurant looks and feels like an old 80s bistro in a club and really does not match the menu prices. Of which, the menu still looks and sounds like something from the 90s, printed from Word '95. Overall? Avoid completely, don't waist your time or money - there is so much better in Braddon, and more authentic.

Very very quiet Sunday night. Pleasant and attentive service, very nice meals. Expressing some surprise at the 1.5% surcharge demanded on all credit card transactions, we were told the mother owner was "The Minister Of Finance" and demanded every penny of income. Still, we shall pass this way but once?

You may think the best food is at the fanciest busiest place...think again! My partner and I were only passing through, we eat at the best restaurants in Brisbane Sydney and Melbourne although tonight were too tired to venture out. We stumbled across this small, quiet hidden gem! Gnocchi is my favourite dish, and this was just perfect! Please everyone come and at least try their gnocchi :) xx

We stumbled across this amazing Italian restaurant by accident & were pleasantly surprised. Excellent staff & service. The gnocchi were probably the best I have ever eaten & there pulled pork fettecini is awesome! Defenetly be back next trip to Canberra. Highly recommend.
