Lolas - Carlsbad

I can't believe I've been living here for so long and only just tried Lola's for the first time today. It was fantastic and I am seriously considering going back for dinner. They offer vegan and vegetarian options, which is a rarity in authentic Mexican restaurants. They can make vegan tortillas, beans, and rice upon request, and all their refried beans are lard-free - a great victory for vegetarians. The chile relleno burrito was outstanding, as was the vegan veggie burrito that my wife ordered. The red and green salsas were excellent - we all know how important salsa is. I also want to mention how friendly the staff was. I didn't catch her name, but the lovely lady working at the front of the house explained the menu to us and was incredibly helpful. The outdoor dining area in the front with tables on the grass and under the shade of nearby trees is beautiful. This restaurant has been around for many years, and now I understand why. When I moved to Carlsbad last summer, I had no idea that I would be living so close to the best bean and cheese burrito in town. I highly recommend adding fries, sour cream, and jalapeños to the bean and cheese burrito - it's delicious!
