Mesón La Almagra - Casas Nuevas

This place was amazing, we stored here for a quick bite to eat on the way back from Gebas and it turned out to be done of the best tapas we've had in Spain. The octopus was the most tender I've ever had, the squid was cooked beautifully, the stuffed mushrooms and potatoes were really tasty and the little kebab things were something special! The service was also very good with friendly waiters they seemed to speak some English but we just pointed to the tapas we wanted anyway. We parked just a little up the road just off the main road where there's a small lookout to look at the little river then walked less than 10 mins to the restaurant. Once we paid the very cheap price (30€ for 6 sharing tapas dishes, 2 beers and a water, easily enough for 3 people) the have us a complimentary local cider to taste. There was plenty of space to eat either indoors or outdoors in the sun or shade. We sat on a little area out the back and around a corner covered by trees. So definitely be coming back.

Pongo esta valoración por la experiencia que viví cuando fui. Aunque debo decir que creo que se trata de algo puntual y es muy posible que, por lo general, el servicio sea mucho mejor. Fuimos cuatro personas a comer una paella (la dejamos encargada dos días antes). Llegamos a la hora que habíamos reservado, nos sentamos y nos tomaron nota de las bebidas y, un rato después, de las tapas antes de la paella (debo señalar que al llegar avisamos que éramos los de la paella). Las tapas tardaron muchísimo en salir (y eso que algunas eran cosas que no necesitaban cocinarse, solo había que montarlas en el plato) y algunas salieron incorrectas (número equivocado de unidades). Pero lo que más nos desesperó fue que la paella tardó una hora y media en salir desde la hora de la reserva (el restaurante no estaba lleno, había poca gente y varios camareros). Los camareros nos dijeron que hubo un problema en la cocina y que por eso la tardanza, pero luego para el café también nos lo trajeron mal en dos ocasiones y al final un comensal decidió no pedir café. Es cierto que la comida estaba muy buena y que los camareros fueron simpáticos y amables. A pesar de esta experiencia, seguramente les daré otra oportunidad porque considero que mi problema pudo ser algo puntual de un día.

Had a very enjoyable meal here today with friends. The food was delicious and beautifully served on the plates. The only criticism that someone had, was that the plates were cold so the scummy vegetables were a little cold. The cheesecake was to die for a proper version. Well done to the chef and staff.
