I stopped in for a cider and so mussels after touring Castine on a Scarlet tour. Service was fast and friendly. I sat outside on a very pleasant day. Food was tasty. Wished I had room for the strawberry shortcake as it looked amazing.
Unbelievable. No utensils, late drinks, absent appetizer that got presented twice after I told them to cancel because dinner came first. After four rounds on utensils and getting them piecemeal for a table of 4, got up and I asked a waitress as my son had been waiting 15 minutes. She told me not to be rude... then repeated that as she dumped a fork on the table. Dennett's Wharf is rolling over in its grave. Zero tip (never done that before) and zero stars. UPDATE: my youngest child (blessed with a timely fork) is puking his guts out 3 hours after dinner there.
Otter's is a step up from previous dockside restaurants at this location. Have had two dinners and enjoyed both. The steak was a nice cut of beef and the smashed potatoes and sautéed greens were very tasty and fresh. The lobster was well prepared and the French fries above average. This is a large venue that attracts a crowd so in this summer of Covid help is hard to find and service may not be perfect, but the staff are hard working and seek to be accommodating. A fine addition to Castine's limited dining scene.
So happy this under new management! Love the new vibe, food and mostly service (be patient and kind full staffing is hard to find during Covid 19 and roll with it). The vibe is fun and food is equally fun. Lobster was FRESH and in a slider format was great. Outstanding beer selection and great location. Way to go new management. Keep it up.
