This made us uneasy and unwilling to trust the food. The restaurant was not very clean and the food was served on styrofoam plates with paper bowls. We will not be coming back.
This restaurant is a small, family-owned establishment that offers counter service. The menu is clearly marked with asterisks to indicate which dishes are vegan, and I would estimate that about 50% of the options fit this criteria. They offer a variety of choices, including appetizers, curries, fried rice, dosas, and more. I tried the vegetable uthappam, which had the perfect portion size and delicious flavors with a thick texture reminiscent of hash browns. The samosas were also tasty, but had a bit of spice. The sauces served on the side were fantastic. The service was quick and the prices were reasonable.
I have been frequenting this restaurant in North Phoenix as often as possible. In the past, they served food on tin plates, but now they use disposable plates. The menu features traditional South Indian cuisine, which may be different from what you find at more mainstream Indian restaurants. I personally adore South Indian food and find it difficult to come by. While this place may not be fancy, the food is truly outstanding and worth a visit for any South Indian food enthusiast.
In my 26 years of being vegan, this is literally the worst vegetarian restaurant (possibly worst restaurant that I've been to. The place is dirty and run down, you order at the counter even though the place is tiny and they could easily take orders from tables, the food is mostly fried and very greasy (it seriously upset our stomachs for hours , and they serve everything in styrofoam containers with plastic utensils (and no, they do not recycle . These owners really do not care about quality in any way. We ordered a vegetable dish (Manchurian what a weird name for an Indian restaurant to use and it was fried balls (they claimed they were made from vegetables , soaked in a thick sugary coating. None of the foods that I'm used to ordering at Indian restaurants were here no Chana Masala, no Aloo Gobi, no Bengan Bartha. The place is obviously run by a family, and while they may be nice people (they didn't communicate with the customers much so I don't know and I am all for family owned and operated businesses I could never eat here again. It was really, really terrible. I wish someone would have warned me. There are other awesome vegetarian Indian restaurants in the area. Ruchi for one. Go there. (Note: Happy Cow will not allow reviewers to give anything less than 2 stars to any vegetarian restaurant but they do NOT deserve 2 stars. It would be better for the vegetarian community and this cause if we could be honest and warn people that this restaurant is terrible. It does not represent what vegetarian restaurants are usually like.
Not sure why a previously written review is not showing up. I have been to this place a few times and have not been happy with the quality of the food or the service. There is no decor/atmosphere but the prices aren't that cheap either. Food is served in styrofoam/plastic if I remember correctly.
