The food as all Giorgio’s was high quality and well made, but I hadn’t been to Kipos for few years since they have moved to their new Chapel Hill location. We tried the place for a birthday dinner, because my friends had told me about their live music at night. I am very glad we tried the dinner at the new place. The restaurant is very big but has a marvelous atmosphere. This was during the Christmas/ new year holiday season and VERY busy, but the service was very nice and friendly. We tired their appetizers. For main dishes we tried the chicken with lemon potato and their moussaka. For desert we tried their lemon custard. All dishes, as always were well prepared, fresh and tasty. However what will make me go back for dinner time is not just the food but the restaurant’s atmosphere . Kipos is happy and loud, friendly and lively. The positive vibes, the music and energy is great. Other notes: The restaurant is noisy, I LOVED it but if you are looking for a quiet place, just keep this in mind. They have a lovely patio which is not as noisy. Also, the dinner and lunch menus are different. I wish they would offer some of their lunch items like sandwiches) for dinner as well. The main dishes are reasonably priced in the range for Chapel Hill dinning), but the appetizers are fairly small for the price. It would have been also great if a complementary basket of bread with the olive spread be provided for tables just a suggestion). All aspects considered, I loved the place and recommend it as well. This is a nice place for friend gatherings, date nights, family gatherings etc. There were also many families with kids.
The food is generally good and the ambience is fun, but the wait staff can make or break your dining experience. Our waitress took half the table’s drink order… and then just walked away. When we did see her again, we were able to put in the other orders but they came out wrong. Unfortunately, the same thing happened with our entrees; salad without the protein add-on, soup instead of a rice dish, and so on.
Love this artsy place? Service is impeccable. Food is delicious. Ambience is awesome!
So I want to love this place; it’s beautiful and the idea of great Greek food is tantalizing! I’ve been a couple times one time I just got a salad and there was so much dressing I couldn’t eat it. I wanted to like it! Showed the waiter who was swamped) and he agreed it didn’t look right. Asked for something else that would be quick and easy and he suggested the spanakopita I didn’t want my friends to wait on me). It was pretty good until I got the bill and was charged for both the salad and the spanakopita. Hmmm. It was a big hassle to get the bill right. Another time I went and got the chicken souvlaki and I’ll say the cluck was cooked out of that chicken! Dry as a bone. I didn’t say anything because I was with a group. The waiter was outstanding. It just misses the mark. The owner is standing at the kitchen and watching all this going on. I usually love his restaurants, but I wonder if he’s lost his touch :
Beef short rib is food to die for! Miles, the waiter was knowledgeable, helpful, and right on with his recommendations! Ambience!!!
