We tried the angel hair crab cakes, pimiento fries (with chili, bourbon bacon wrapped shrimp, and buffalo chicken wontons. We also enjoyed a side of asparagus and sweet potato bake (to. die. for. and finished with peanut butter pie. Loved it all! Well-appointed bar with huge whiskey selection.
We chose to sit at the bar rather than wait an hour for a table. With one lone bartender taking our order while trying to prepare drinks, I can overlook somewhat slow, not exactly welcoming service. Especially when we had to keep repeating ourselves due to the noise level. We split a couple appetizers as our dinner, chili cheese fries and wings with their house pineapple BBQ sauce. Fries were okay. The pimento cheese was on the mild side and the chili was too sweet for my taste. Wings were large but a little overcooked and the sauce was surprisingly bland. We had to ask for hot sauce and use some salt and pepper to give them flavor. The square had a decent flavor but tasted very watered-down. We might try them again for a real dinner sometime but won't likely order these apps again. We'll wait for a table next time, too.
Hale House has a great atmosphere, a friendly and helpful staff, and most importantly delicious food. I highly recommend you check out the speakeasy and their excellent drink menu while you wait for your table. The prime rib was on point and the bourbon bacon shrimp appetizer was phenomenal. We'll definitely be coming back!
Had my very 1st Smoked Ole fashion with my favorite bourbon ? Shaq knocked it out the park! Loved the Speak ez and the Crab cakes are crazy! Food was delicious, fabulous celebration ?
Great location in Charleston for dinner. I’ve eaten both at the bar and at a table with friends and everyone was impressed with the atmosphere, drinks, and food. Our server was very friendly and attentive with great recommendations for our dinner. My favorite is the roast beef sandwich which is served French dip style. The au jous is delicious. I also got the crème brûlée cheesecake and loved it.The selection of beers on tap is good as well. So far this is my favorite place in Charleston.
