Chit Chats Bistro - Chatswood

The menu was recently updated on July 1, 2022, and unfortunately, the changes are not impressive. Previously known for its great value, some popular items like the rib specials are no longer available. Additionally, the prices for kids meals have increased from $8.50 to $12. To make matters worse, the salt and pepper squid was very disappointing in taste.

For $15, you can choose from 5 main courses at this restaurant with a glass of wine. While it may not be fine dining, the food is good, portions are generous, and service is quick. On Saturdays, you can enjoy excellent steaks and full racks of ribs that would cost $40 at other restaurants. It's important to recognize this restaurant for what it is - a café in an RSL club with great value. It can be difficult to get a table because many others also appreciate the quality and value of this place.

It seems like every time we give Chit Chats Bistro at Chatswood RSL we are disappointed by both the food service and food quality. Why do we keep going? It's because my partner is an ex-serviceman and wants to support his local RSL, but they seem to be spiralling downhill each time we go. This time we ordered the skewers platter for 2. It was supposed to come with grilled tomato and mexican slaw (as per what it said on the menu), but as you can see from the picture below, it didn't. Also, the meat was overcooked and bland. The waiter was good when we questioned him about it, but that's not the point. The chef should have made sure all items are on the plate prior to sending out.
