We chose this restaurant because it was close to our hostel, but it seems to be part of a chain that operates throughout the city. It's a purely vegetarian spot with an extensive menu. The staff is very accommodating and can easily prepare dishes without milk or ghee, using oil instead, or they can recommend alternative options for creamy items. We really enjoyed the dosa (which is almost always vegan), chana masala, and aloo gobi, along with some rice. The dining experience was pleasant, in a clean environment with good air conditioning, though there was no Wi-Fi.
What I love most about Saravana Bhavan is the consistent quality and standard of their food. They serve the best sambar along with a variety of chutneys. I tried the ghee dosa at this location, and it was delicious. The mini idlis soaked in sambar and topped with ghee truly made my day.
One of the Chennai's fav restaurant chain for veggies. It has a pocket-friendly combo option which includes a meal with a drink. Though it has lost the charm that had a decade ago for the taste of the sambhar. Its still one of the most popular visited restaurant in Chennai.
We had a plain dosai and filter kaapi. The dosai was decent. The onion chutney was pretty good, as was the sambar. The kaapi was excellent.<br/ <br/ The service was swift.
