However, it never fully reopened and was eventually sold. The new location in Ducklington, 15 miles away, is not as charming as the previous one. The odd opening hours, difficulty in finding the place, and the lack of parking made the visit quite frustrating. Additionally, the price of £30 per person was a rip off considering the quality of the food did not match the cost.
Delicious afternoon tea at Jane’s Enchanted Gardens yesterday. We were due to attend in 2020 for my birthday but due to lockdown restrictions for Covid 19 the Gardens were closed. Jane kindly held over all bookings to 2021. Excellent service Prosecco on arrival, plenty of other alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks available, a fine selection of teas, coffee including decaf. Sandwiches super fresh, delicious cakes. They successfully catered for two vegetarians in our party, one dairy free and one meat eater. One friend couldn’t attend at short notice so they kindly packed her cream tea up for her plus a mini bottle of bubbly for us to take home later. Looking forward to seeing you all again in August for an evening meal.
I have been a regular at this restaurant for years and have always been satisfied with my meals. However, I recently tried their full afternoon tea for £20 per person and was extremely disappointed. I found it to be overpriced and not worth the cost. I have had better afternoon teas for less money at other places. The sandwiches were lackluster, as mentioned in a previous review. When I asked about taking a slice of cake to go as they were closing, I was shocked to hear they wanted to charge me £4.50 per slice. I would not recommend their afternoon tea and suggest sticking to just having tea and scones.
I found the restaurant to be overpriced at £20 per person (prosecco available for an additional cost). While the sandwiches were tasty, I would have expected smoked salmon instead of tuna at this price point. The savouries on the top tier of the cake stand seemed like leftovers, and the sausage rolls resembled the small frozen ones found in supermarkets. The cakes were overly sweet, with a hard lemon cream-topped cake, a syrup-soaked mini dessert, a chocolate cupcake, and a red velvet cupcake all leaving a lingering sweetness in the mouth. The scones with jam and cream were the highlight. I would have preferred the option to choose a slice of cake instead. The tea was decent at first but became weak upon refills. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience.
Visited Jane’s this weekend for a friends 60th birthday celebration, 2nd visit and was as fabulous as ever, staff friendly and food was delicious , would highly recommend
