We visited the restaurant for steak night. Although the two steaks we ordered were overcooked, they were still delicious. However, we were shocked by the price of the wine - £7.75 for a medium (not large) glass of red wine seemed excessive when the same bottle could be bought at Aldi for around £5.50. The quality of the wine included with the meal and the glass purchased separately left much to be desired, as it was cheap and unpleasant.
We received a warm welcome at this restaurant and enjoyed a delicious roast beef dinner with all the trimmings, served family style. The restaurant was fully booked at 12:45, so we were happy to eat in the bar without a reservation. The menu was short, offering two roast options or a vegetarian dish, which we took as a good sign of quality. The service was excellent and friendly. It had been many years since we last visited the area and the pub, and we were delighted to see it thriving. We will definitely be returning in the future. We wish the Bell good luck and also enjoyed the Hook Norton beers.
