When I travel, I'm looking for a place with a local crowd and a good local atmosphere. That seemed to be the place. When I was there, almost all older men play dominos and socializing. A man at a table with conversations with himself and another man standing at the end of the restaurant observes everyone. I enjoy strange crowds and this fits. I found breakfast. Nothing special compared to some of the great Mexican breakfasts I had. And I found the server rude and somewhat surly. But she just seemed kind to regular and then not too much. A completely different place. I'll be back soon.
The food was fine, the service was fine, and the prices were fine, too. Lonely Planet characterizes it as an old dude coffee shop, and sure enough there were some retired American guys (with one or two Chetumal babes ... at a couple tables there. All seating is outdoors the indoor area is a kind of half empty administrative space but there is not much of a view on this side street; we faced the restaurant cisterns.
A favored coffee shop of many of the locals and expats alike. The coffee food are excellent, prices ranging from 25-65 pesos. Outside seating makes people watching quite entertaining. A few groups of regulars gather there daily, read the paper, play dominos discuss the current events. I love the food- anything from breakfast to lunch, I have never been disappointed.
