Leonidas Chocolate Cafe - Chicago

We love this place and it is always at the top of our list anytime we are in Chicago! The crepes are amazing and the coffee/hot chocolate never disappoint. The service is always great and the atmosphere is cozy.

Bought the triple chocolate hot chocolate and peppermint tea. The hot chocolate was friggin' delicious and would 100% buy it again if I'm ever back in Chicago! The peppermint tea was your typical tea that did not disappoint. Both hot beverages were at the perfect temperature to drink right away without burning your tongues. Service was quick since we got there right when it opened and no one else ordering. Without a doubt, I'd recommend this place for their hot drinks.

We got an extreme dark hot chocolate drink and a java milk hot chocolate drink. They were both very rich in chocolate and creamy thick in consistency. I thought the extreme dark chocolate would be very bitter but it was not at all. I used to drink chocolate very often in the past but I hadn’t drunk it in years since I like foods drinks with less and less sweetness as I grew up. The java milk hot chocolate wasn’t too sweet like I thought it would be but after a while we both needed some water. The almond croissant was soft and crunchy. There are thin almond slices and powdered sugar on top, frangipane (almond cream filling) spread between the croissant slice, and chocolate between the layers of the croissant. The chocolate was a nice surprise. The Quiche Lorraine was probably pre-made and re-heated since it’s a small coffee shop. The crust is crunchy hard and soft on the inside with onion and bacon. It’s a nice little savory pastry for the morning enough to fill you up for a couple of hours without being hungry. Most customers came in to get drinks to go. You can also get chocolate chocolate boxes here. The crêpes are made to order and I really want to try it, maybe next time.
