I am quite simple and firm with the fried shrimps and I was surprised how small they were, but they were very tasteful! My husband couldn't decide what court to try so that we ordered a little everything. I had never fried green tomatoes and they were fantastic! We are planning to come back at a Monday night to try beans and rice! Fantastic waitress who knew the menu in front of the back and great service.
Definitely one of a kind in the Twin Cities. If you are in the mood for some Po Boys or Etouffee, this place will meet the place! People and service are great. The atmosphere is cool and comfortable. I would highly recommend fried oysters for an app and cancer if it is available. Both are rich and tasty and you will be in a good mood. The etouff is good, but more on the lighter side to taste intensity, so perfect for the average minnesotan palette; The thing that bleed our thoughts, though was the Mississippi mudcake we had for dessert! It was super rich and savory with beautiful surprises of crispy from the roasted walnuts. Brownie-like center covered by a delicious Meringue was perfect, not too heavy and a perfect balance of chocolate.
First visit tonight. The Boudin Balls are a must! This sauce is amazing. I wanted to go home. Good portions, great prices, service was great. I like they have half-part options. They had live music from which we are not a fan, because it is usually really loud, but we sat far enough to where we could still talk. The Jambalaya is delicious, slightly different from what I had before in other southern restaurants, a little sweeter but still really good with her homemade sausage. The Crawfish Pie with the cheese sauce was delicious, unique, unexpected and would definitely be back. We'll be back.
WOW! How is this place in Circle Pines?! My wife and I went to Bistro La Roux for our anniversary and had an explosion, with Cajun Food and live New Orleans Jazz (Southside Aces recommend!) Then drove home for 15 minutes. Crazy! Service was also fantastic. Great beers on tap and great atmosphere (go for live music on Friday night).
Last night was our first time to Bistro La Roux. My husband travels to NOLA for work (and I occasionally go with him , and we were craving some of the sinfully delicious New Orleans fare. Bistro La Roux did not disappoint! Our waitress, Sandy, was happy to give her suggestions (thank you! . We ended up with a oyster po' boy, Boo fries (think poutine-like fries , seafood gumbo (half order , and the olives. My husband and I like to share our meals, so we get a little bit of everything The food was delivered very quickly (almost shocking how quickly it came , and looked very appealing. The taste was fantastic! Po' boy had fantastic flavor, wonderful combination of that deep fried oyster with the fresh veggies on that french bread. Boo fries had a savory beef gravy and not too salty (as I've had at other restaurants . The seafood gumbo, oh the gumbo, delicious little shrimp and okra with just the right amount of rice on top...I chose to to get the french bread and was so happy with my choice. The french bread had the perfect amount of crustiness to the outside with that soft, chewy inside. Being a big fan of olives of all flavors, perfect choice (they are NOT pitted for those not use to it, so don't chip a tooth! . Sandy was very attentive throughout our meal, ensuring that we were enjoying our first visit there. I also knew that we would be having dessert, so we ordered the bread pudding a la mode (on the side . What a perfect ending to a delicious meal! I got so excited I forgot to take a picture of it! I would definitely recommend stopping by this modest treasure. We had live jazz music as well (Southside Aces . We will absolutely be back! Thanks for bringing a little NOLA to the north!
