I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with a baked potato, sandwich was very dry and baked potato wasn't hot enough and looked gray in color. My friend ordered a Ceasar salad with chicken, chicken was very dry and salad was tasteless and wet. ! Couple issues Menu completely in French. I know a fair bit of French but making out the menu quickly is difficult. Chicken was dry and tasteless. Not sure how you can screw up chicken so badly. Asking “you don’t have to but do you want to tip us” at the drive thru is very weird and comes across as begging. Why would I tip a drive thru? Should I tip tim hortons and McDonald’s too? Service: Take out
I was driving over to Rockland Nutrition and saw a bunch of box stores. What caught my attention was this St Hubert Express. I had many thoughts: I wish that St Hubert still existed in the greater Toronto area. I never had St Hubert here, but do remember the location at Warden and Danforth Avenues in Scarborough. I have been craving a hot chicken sandwich on my vacation. I can finally get it here! I should dine in and relax. This eatery has a drive thru. I parked fairly close to the entrance and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a woman who spoke both official languages well, switching effortlessly between the two. I asked if the hot chicken sandwich was available. The entire menu was in French and I didn't spot it. She enthusiastically said yes. I got dark meat and creamy coleslaw. You can also get traditional coleslaw, which is vinegar based. I also got a fountain drink. Coke products are offered. I paid with a credit card. All went well. On my tray, I got a plastic cup, a mini bowl, and my coleslaw. I filled up my cup with Diet Coke. You can do refills if you want. She let me know that she'd call my name when my order was ready. I found a table and put my tray down. The Diet Coke was nice. I added ice. It was cold and the formulation was perfect. I heard my name. I grabbed my small bowl and headed over to get my food. I filled the bowl up with gravy. I love that you can serve yourself. I wanted the gravy for my fries, as I knew that the gravy on my hot chicken sandwich wouldn't be enough. It's also a different type of gravy. I headed to my seat and enjoyed my lunch at around 2 pm. I loved my hot chicken sandwich. It had a lot of dark meat. The gravy was perfect. The white bread slices soaked it up nicely. The green peas on top make me so happy. I got gravy for my fries. The gravy is so much better than going for regular ketchup. I think bay leaves are used in the gravy, which I love. The creamy coleslaw was delicious. It was cold. The cabbage and carrots were crunchy. It had the right amount of mayo based dressing. Yum! I found it weird that folks wanted to sit around me. I was the only person eating in my area. A man who drives a Jeep decided to sit across from me. A family of four sat behind me. A couple with a small infant sat two tables in front of me. What felt even more peculiar was that they were all quiet. No complaints at all on my part. Just an observation. The most noise came from an interview between the young man and the woman who served me. This place is great for people watching. I hope that he gets whatever job he was applying for. I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom had two stalls. It was nicely maintained. There is also free wifi. I uploaded a bunch of photos on Yelp, which was nice. I had a great experience here. I got my hot chicken sandwich fix. I will miss St Hubert until I return to the Ottawa area again. (231)
