We ordered the banana fritters crispy okra, chole bhatura, onion uthappam, plain uthappam, chicken dosa, medu vada. For drinks we got the salted lassi, which almost tasted stale and sweet tea. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed!
Glad we tried this restaurant. It was the 1st we tried upon arriving at Chapel Hill. 1st, it was difficult to figure out parking. There is metered parking on the street or on the parking lot behind the building. 2nd, the entrance to the restaurant was confusing. The way we entered was on the side and it felt like a storage or the dumpster. Later we learned a better entrance in between buildings leading to a courtyard with access to multiple businesses including Vimalas. Plenty of seating is available outside and inside. When we arrived, there was a band playing outside. Lastly, once we looked at the menu, we learned we had to scan the QRCODE on the table to place the order and pay. That's great for some, but for for me it doesn't work. The food was good. We had vegan and gluten-free free pakoras, dosa masala and kofta curry. The pakoras felt oily, but everything else was good. The portions were a good amount. Overall I am glad for the options available for those with dietary restrictions. Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten-free
Mr.Rush was our server and he was very kind and he studied in Mexico City. The food was great the restaurant was beautiful and after all it was a great experience. Kid-friendliness: The servers are all very kind.
Best Indian restaurant we’ve experienced for as long as we can remember (we love Indian food! . Lamb curry was exceptional, very kind and attentive staff who are passionate about their cooking! Yummy desserts, nice ambience. Thank you so much!
I went for lunch with one of my friends. It’s as authentic as malyali food can get. Each entree is crafted as a meal that gives the customer a wholesome experience. We had crispy okra, Mysore masala dosa, kerela beef curry, samosa chat, mango lassi and iced chai. The chutney sides in each of these entrees gave a kick to the flavour of the entire dish. It’s one of my regular places to go everytime I crave South Indian food! Would one 100% recommend to all tar-heels and others living in the area!
