This is my go to breakfast shop in town. Good prices. Always friendly service. Quintessentially Canadian.
I took an American friend to this restaurant for him to try a poutine. What a disappointment! It was served in a ridiculously narrow boat shaped dish. You had to be very careful for your food not to fall out onto the table. You had to look for the very small amount of cheese at the very bottom of the dish AFTER having to eat a bunch of very ordinary fries to be able to see it. The sauce tasted very ordinary too. In other words we paid about $20 (for 2 for what was basically a pile of fries. Unfortunately my friend was not around long enough for me to take him to the restaurant I usually go to that serves a REAL poutine. The reason I took him to Café Central is we happened to be in Coaticook at the time and I'd had a really good poutine there in the past. Whoever decided to change it messed up. Never going there again. Service was ok.
Excellent Putin. On the other hand, it would be good for the family poutine to be bigger. This is the equivalent of an average or large anywhere else. Perfect for transportation or delivery.
So funny story, as I was driving the girlfriend and I to this cafe for supper she didn't know where we were going to eat and pointed at Cafe Central and said I hope that's not where we're going to eat. Haha sorry. The fish and chips was excellent with a nice coleslaw. The water tasted like tap water. Overall, it was a delicious meal in a busy small Cafe.
