A lot of regulars. The ownership has gone through changes and has resulted in broadening the menu to include everything from plate specials with country style steak to spaghetti to fish. They've lost some of their identity as a THE place for barbecue. The sauce and slaw are great, but the meat doesn't has the flavor it used to. One factor was imposed by the local government that required them to no longer use wood, but switch to gas fired cooking. This is the original location and needs some cleaning up. The restaurant is looking dingy and cluttered. Great tradition. Great opportunity to improve.
Jury is Still Out. This is one of those reviews that is hard to write. I've been going to Troutman's at one location or another for probably close to 10 years. During that time, 2 or the 3 have closed leaving only the original DT Concord location. <br/ <br/ I'm guessing the ownership is getting older and no interest from anyone in the family taking over so things are just sliding. If so, too bad, several of the closed restaurants were great and the concept is still valid although it needs to be updated.<br/ <br/ Enough for that. Food is still good although it is sliding over time. Service is fantastic and most of the employees have been there forever. Decor is a bit dated and needs makeover.<br/ <br/ I know I started out negative but that is the way it is. I still have a very positive view on the restaurant but it's beginning to slide a bit. For the time being, it's a defiinately good and I would recommend to anyone.
Great food and amazing people. Loved the chopped pork and the best onion rings we have ever had. Most importantly we were both impressed and touched by our young waiter, Allen. He wasn't just nice to us but we observed Allen's kindness to several elderly customers. Allen sat with them, called them by name, and patiently took their orders and served them as he would his own grandparents. We were there with our 16 y.o. grandson and he even commented as how kind Allen was.
I often come here to meet my brother for lunch. He loves there barbecue as a matter of fact he eats here Tuesday through Sunday and he usually has barbecue with lots of their mild BBQ sauce. So it must be good pig. The service is usually prompt and the food comes out pretty quick.
A good old establishment and mainstay in Concord NC. Their BBQ is Lexington style or Western NC but with their own sauces that you get a choice of. Slaw is the essential topping and side to a great BBQ sandwich and theirs is excellent. It is a traditional red style with cabbage, vinegar, tomato, and spices like you get in Lexington. The BBQ is lean with a few crunchy burnt ends. I thought a little sauce was just what it needed to moisten it up and make a yummy NC BBQ sandwich.
