Having lived in hard-core BBQ states, South Carolina and Texas, I was expecting at least something that was passable. I was disappointed. The brisket had not been cooked to the proper temperature to make the brisket tender, pull apart juicy. The fat was not rendered in the slightest. The meat was rubbery and devoid of any moisture. The mustard sauce tasted like French's mustard with cumin. Not a pleasant taste. Sides were corn salad and potato salad. The Corn salad was simply corn with some tomatoes. Potato salad was passable.
TLDR: come for drinks and music at night, go to The Potato for everything else. Still 3 stars for me. The food is just fine and is VERY expensive. If this place was only a food spot, I'd say to avoid it at all costs. My best food advice in McCarthy is to eat all meals at The Potato, it's better and cheaper. The drink situation though, is a different story! Lots of local beers on tap, and lots of fun and crazy nights fueled by live music.
Good lunch food, very nice waitress. probably a fabulous place for a night out.
Simple but relly friendly place. Great food an good selection of beers.
This place is super lame. On the bar side, you have all of the locals, who think they are God's gift to the human race. All of the local merchants who make a living off of the tourism hang out there while the tourists tend to hang out on the bright side. Didn't bother to eat there. Went in for beers. The first time, the bartender copped a big attitude so I didn't give her a great tip. The second time, the other bartender copped a tough-guy attitude so I didn't give him a tip at all. The locals are lame and the workers are seasonal so I don't really get down with the tough-guy attitudes toward the people who they basically live off of. Just remember: The Locals are Lame.
