This café in lovely Heligan was fantastic before COVID. They used to serve delicious salads and gorgeous quiches, all freshly made right in front of you at the counter. However, the menu has now become limited and uninspired. The dishes are easy to prepare and not impressive at all. It seems like the staff are tired of the laziness brought on by COVID four years later. I ordered a waffle for breakfast for £10, but it was a standard and small portion with frozen berries that tasted sour. My husband had the £8 bacon roll, which was also disappointing. Come on, people. You used to be great and can be again.
Excellent Sunday lunch, first Sunday in Cornwall what do you do, it has to be the Heligan kitchen Sunday roast. We have not been let down yet.
I had no idea what to expect, but the dish that was served was not what I had in mind. The crispy tofu and vegetable Pad Thai was very disappointing and not worth the price. It was a big disappointment.
We attended one of Heligan's fabulous Lost Suppers last night, this time to celebrate Burns Night. It was a wonderful evening with many really lovely touches such as Pipers dressed in Cornish Hunting Tartan, beautifully designed and printed Menu, decorated tables, pretty lighting and a roaring woodburner. Not to mention the delicious food, which was imaginative and beautifully presented, and of course the catering team who work tirelessly.
